Disclosed is a resin article which has an organic-inorganic composite film excellent in abrasion resistance. This resin article comprises a resin base having a thickness of more than 0.1 mm, and an organic-inorganic composite film formed on the resin base and containing an organic matter and an inorganic oxide. The organic-inorganic composite film mainly contains silica as at least a part of the inorganic oxide, and this organic-inorganic composite film does not separate from the base after Taber abrasion test performed on the surface of the organic-inorganic composite film in accordance with JIS R 3212. This resin article can be produced by applying an organic-inorganic composite film-forming solution over a resin base, and then removing at least a part of the liquid component contained in the applied film-forming solution while keeping the base at a temperature not more than 150°C.
