PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which reads information in an image, and executes its processing at a high speed.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus for reading information such as watermark data repetitively arranged in the image, divides the image of the processing object into a plurality of blocks (S203) and sequentially extracts locally located data in each block (S205 to S211). The image processing apparatus determines whether the information can correctly be extracted (S219) by checking an information parity or the like for every process by a prescribed number of blocks (YES in S207). When determining that the information can be correctly extracted, the image processing apparatus extracts the information (S221) and terminates the processing (S217).
