<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner having excellent dispersibility of a release agent and favorable offset resistance, and to provide a binder resin for an electrophotographic toner to be used as a binder resin of the above toner. <P>SOLUTION: The binder resin for an electrophotographic toner comprises a polyester obtained by polycondensation of source monomers comprising a monovalent aliphatic compound having a number average molecular weight of 400 to 1,000, wherein the monovalent aliphatic compound is at least one kind selected from a group consisting of monovalent aliphatic carboxylic acid compounds and monovalent aliphatic alcohols.
