PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an unpleasant feeling from being given to a driver and occupants of a preceding vehicle or an oncoming vehicle caused by repeating the switching of a high beam and a low beam in a high beam setting control means in a short period, in a headlight control device. SOLUTION: The headlight control device 2 comprises an automatic light unit 4 lighting headlights 1L, 1R on the basis of illuminance; a beam control unit 3 setting the high beam when a front vehicle is not detected at the time of lighting the headlights 1L, 1R, and setting the low beam when the front vehicle is detected; and a beam switching number counting portion 33 counting the number of beam switching between the high beam and the low beam of the headlights 1L, 1R by the beam control unit 3. In this case, the beam control unit 3 forcibly finish a system when the number of the beam switching counted by the beam switching number counting portion 33 becomes three or more in 10 seconds.
