PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet a case in which a version of an actual machine is inconsistent with that of a tool for setting a unit parameter and to allow a user to set the parameters without being conscious of version consistency/inconsistency between the two. SOLUTION: The parameter setting device comprises: a means (a function for executing S 31 and S32) for acquiring unit configuration information indicating what units constitute the same device, information about types of the respective units, and their version; a means (a function executing S34 to S39 and S42 to define a file to be used) for specifying a machine type information definition file which can be treated on the basis of the acquired unit of the actual machine type and version information; and a means for reading the specified machine type information definition file which can be treated and displaying a parameter setting picture on the basis of the file.
