PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetoresistive element of which magnetostriction constant dose not sharply change around zero of the magnetostriction constant while the MR ratio is kept high, and which can stably obtain an optional magnetostriction constant. SOLUTION: The magnetic resistance effect element 10 includes a fixed ferromagnetic layer, a free ferromagnetic layer, and a barrier layer pinched with them.
