PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the inconvenience of separately requiring transmitting the coordinate information of a detected position by some communication means, because of the inability of calculation on own coordinate position at the detected position. SOLUTION: Sound waves and light are synchronously transmitted from a plurality of transmission positions whose position coordinates are known, the distances from the transmission positions are measured at a receiving position whose coordinates are wanted to detect, based on differences in arrival time of the respective sound waves and light from the transmitting positions, and coordinate calculation is performed based on the distances from the respective transmission positions, thus the problem is solved. Furthermore, a solution means is provided for dispensing with a separate communication means by causing the sound waves or light transmitted from transmitting parts to carry transmitted information, thereby using the respective media not only as distance measurement means, but also as means allowing information transmission.
