PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutoff valve capable of realizing silent operation and reducing the amount of electric power consumption. SOLUTION: This shutoff valve 10 has a bobbin 13 around which a coil 69 is wound, a yoke composed of a plate yoke 17 and a frame yoke 60 is arranged in the outside of the bobbin 13, and a main magnetic circuit is constituted. An auxiliary core 73 having a substantially cylindrical shape is arranged between an upper part of an inner peripheral face of the bobbin 13 and a sleeve 66, and a branched magnetic circuit is constituted. Since a part of a line of magnetic force M advancing toward a plunger 12 from the auxiliary core 73 advances into the direction crossing the vertical direction (the direction of travel of the plunger 12), attraction force in the vertical direction when the auxiliary core 73 is provided is smaller when compared with attraction force in the vertical direction when the auxiliary core is not provided to realize silence when opening the valve. The plunger 12 and a fixed core 65 come into contact directly while compressing a buffer material 72 to increase holding force and save electric power. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
