PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly perform access to a file, while making file management correct and easy. SOLUTION: In an information storage medium, while a video object including image information is recorded in a video file, presence of a first non-recorded area in which a new video object can be recorded is allowed. Information on a second non-recorded area which is not allocated is shown by a space table, and the space table includes an unallocated space entry. The unallocated space entry includes a line of second allocation descriptors on an extent of the second non-recorded area and information on length of the line of the allocation descriptor shown in byte count.
