PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a naphthopyran compound useful as a photochromic compound in a high yield. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the naphthopyran compound such as 3,3-di(3-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl)-6-morpholino-3H-naphtho[2,1-b]pyran comprising causing a naphthol derivative such as 4-morpholino-2-naphthol to react with a propargyl alcohol derivative such as 1,1-di(3-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl)-2-propyn-1-ol in the presence of an acid catalyst, silica is used as the acid catalyst.
