PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a cassette to a target stop position in a short time without spoiling positioning accuracy and stability. SOLUTION: A target stop section of a carriage 9 at a photography position is set on the basis of the size of the cassette 16 set by a size selecting section 24. When the distance between the position of the carriage 9 detected by a rotary encoder 20 and the target stop position becomes closer than a set distance, a mode switching means 31 outputs a mode switch signal. When moving the carriage 9 from a waiting position to the photography position, the carriage moves in a speed control mode during acceleration to the maximum speed after start of movement and during uniform movement at the maximum speed. The carriage 9 then switches to a position control mode in response to the mode switch signal, starts deceleration, and stops at the target stop position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
