The device has a slide path on which a material that is to be cut up to carry out a cutting process and at least one cutting blade, whereby a changeover device is provided that can be changed between a neutral position, in which at least the cutting edge of the blade is covered and/or lowered, and a cutting position in which it is not covered or lowered. The changeover device has a leg spring (1) with first and second legs (3,5), both arranged on a spring element (7) with two coil springs (9,11). An independent claim is also included for a cutting module for an inventive device.
