PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device which prevents rotation of an inner column when a telescopic is released and allows an outer column to clamp the inner column tightly when the telescopic is tightened. SOLUTION: A gapδ3 is located between a shaft 110b of a stopper member 110 and a slit L when the telescopic is tightened. A protrusion 110c of the stopper member 110 is fitted in a recess 120d of a clamp member 12b, so that the clamp members 12a, 12b clamp the inner column 3 strongly. The gap between the shaft 110b of the stopper member 110 and the slit L is expanded toδ4 when the telescopic is released. However the protrusion 110c of the stopper member 110 is fitted to the recess 120d of the clamp member 12b and the relative movement of the stopper member 110 to the clamp member 12b is blocked, so that the inner column 3 is not rotated.
