PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive cavity sensor for detecting the concentration of particles, or detecting a single particle. SOLUTION: The structure of the conducting cavity sensor (110, 180) comprises the dielectric waveguides (125, 325, 425) for making electromagnetic radiations incident; the two-dimensional periodic lattice (199) of the conductive rod (120), surrounded by the dielectric medium having the lattice constant and the defect zone (129), while receiving the electromagnetic radiation rays from the dielectric waveguides (125, 325, 425), wherein the electromagnetic radiation rays are confined to be in the defect zone (129) at a certain operating wavelength.
