PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents accumulation apparatus, contents accumulation method and contents accumulation program capable of sufficiently preventing quality deterioration due to conversion of contents data. SOLUTION: Contents data are transmitted from a broadcasting station device 1 to a contents accumulation apparatus 2 (arrow (a)). Contents data (high definition data HD) of a high definition television (HDTV) system received by the contents accumulation apparatus 2 have a video format corresponding to a display (HD display) 3 capable of displaying video images of the HDTV system. When moving recorded high definition data HD to a recording medium 4, the contents accumulation apparatus 2 down converts the high definition data HD of the HDTV system into standard data SD of a standard television (SDTV) system (arrow (c)), writes the converted data onto the recording medium 4 (arrow (e)) and stores a differential between the high definition data HD before down conversion and the standard data SD after down conversion as differential data DF (arrow (d)).
