PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an active knee bolster having a good appearance of a seam of a instrument panel and a lower panel and protecting knees of an occupant by moving the lower panel to a knee restraining position without applying a strong force under a predetermined condition. SOLUTION: Because an instrument panel 16 and a lower panel 38 are fixed via a rib 46 and a plate clip 42, a step of a seam 40 is eliminated, resulting in a good appearance. Also, when an actuator is operated, a pressing member pressurizes a lower panel 38 in an opening direction (an arrow A direction). When the lower panel 38 is pressurized, an engagement part 48 of the rib 46 is separated from an engaged part 49. The engagement part 48 is inserted in the engaged part 49 so that it is easily detached in the opening direction (arrow A direction). Thereby, the lower panel 38 can move to a knee restraining position so as to protect the knees of the occupant without applying a strong force. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
