<p>Provided is a camera comprising an image pickup device for picking up an object focused by a photographing lens; a control device for controlling a camera action containing the action of the image pickup device and for performing various initializing operations of the camera, and an operation member operated to instruct the power ON/OFF of the camera. The control device (a) performs, when the power ON of the camera is instructed by the operation member, only that of the initializing operations, which is not accompanied by the drive of the photographing lens, and then allows the camera action, and (b) performs, when the power OFF of the camera is instructed by the operation member, an initializing operation accompanied by the drive of the photographing lens, and then makes the power OFF of the camera.</p> |
