Device for vertical or horizontal movement control of a load (3) according to a predefined velocity profile, where the load is driven by an electric motor (1) connected to an output gearbox (2). An actuator (5) controls the motor based on its actual speed. The actuator has an arrangement for digital control of the phase cutting point of the motor voltage and for measuring the actual speed data at the output of the self-braking gearbox. An independent claim is made for a method for vertical or horizontal movement control of a load.
