Improved methods and means for production of hyaluronic acid

摘要

Genetically modified plant cell with a hyaluronan synthase gene stably integrated into its genome has elevated glutamine:fructose-6-phosphate amidotransferase activity and elevated uridine diphosphate-glucose dehydrogenase activity. Independent claims are also included for: (1) plants comprising genetically modified plant cells as above; (2) propagation material of the plants; (3) harvestable parts of the plants; (4) a process for producing hyaluronan-producing plants; (5) producing hyaluronan by extraction from cells, plants, propagation material or harvestable parts as above.
