A ribbon cartridge (150), comprising an ink ribbon (155) formed of a transparent sheet with ink layers thereon, the ink ribbon including counting holes (156) arranged at predetermined intervals in a winding direction of the ink ribbon to allow for a counting of a number of printed pages printed with the ink ribbon, and a mechanical counter (180) having a side thereof (185) to engage with and disengage from the counting holes while the counting holes are moved in order to count the number of printed pages.
