Ownership transferring process for transferring the ownership of music data. The ownership transferred times data represents the number of times of which the ownership of music data stored in a portable terminal unit A has been transferred to other peoples. When the ownership of music data is transferred, not only the music data is transferred to a portable terminal unit B of a new owner, but the owner ID is changed. The permitted ownership transfer times data is used to limit the number of times of which the ownership of music data is transferred.
