The wooden wedges for supporting the blocks are dispensed with, the blocks resting only on concrete, where they are seated more easily with the aid of four jacks; the strip alignment is corrected frequently to ensure that the sawing grooves are not too wide; mud with less sawing detritus than usual is used; all the limewater used in the sawing and plate washing processes is recovered; the shot is recovered more easily from the waste, and a controlling device easier to mount and handle, is used to control the shot content in the mud.
