PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the resolution of a color filter in a method for manufacturing the color filter with a small number of steps, at a low cost and with high controllability by using a photocatalyst film forming method capable of forming a film with a simple process. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the color filter contains a step in which a substrate for forming the color filter, consisting of a light transimssive substrate on which a light transmissive conductive thin film and a patterned photocatalyst thin film in contact with the light transmissive conductive thin film are arranged, besides the conductive thin film holding continuity with an electrolytic solution, is arranged in the electrolytic solution, containing a coloring material and a material, of which the solubility or the dispersibility in an aqueous liquid is reduced concomitant with variation in pH, so as to bring the photocatalyst thin film into contact with the electrolytic solution, at the same time the conductive thin film is in continuity with the electrolytic solution and in this state a coloring film is formed in a selected region of the photocatalyst thin film by irradiating the selected region with ultraviolet rays. |
