PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing hydroxyl groups in a polymer film with low absorption loss and to provide an optical waveguide by using the method. SOLUTION: A polymer film 2 for a polymer optical waveguide is heated as well as the film is irradiated with microwaves so that the polymer film 2 generates heat on the surface and in the film. Thus, process of removing hydroxyl groups can be performed satisfactorily in the polymer film 2 and the absorption loss can be decreased. |
