摘要 A method of controlling a vehicle, eg a tractor, transmission during a gear change, the transmission comprising an input shaft 15 supporting two spaced gears 20, 21 which are rotationally connected to the input shaft 15 by a reverse clutch 22 and a forward clutch 23. Gears 20, 21 are engaged with gears 38, 40 on a main shaft 34 which are also engaged with gears 50, 51 on a lay shaft 45 that drives via gears 30, 48 output shaft 26. The method comprises the steps (85-92, fig 3) of disengaging, for example, the forward clutch 23 and subsequently engaging the reverse clutch 22 to provide a driving connection between the input shaft 15, thereby retarding the input gearing 38, 40, 30, 48, 50, 51 and providing a smooth gear change. Sensors 80, 81 monitor rotational speed of the gearing and send signals to a control unit 82 which via control valve 24 hydraulically actuates the clutches 22, 23.
