A process for the preparation of heterocyclic 2-trifluoromethylketons of the general formula (I) (I)in which X represents an atom of nitrogen, substituted with C1-C10alkyl or C2-C10alkenyl, which can be substituted with halogen, cyano, nitro, C1-C10alkoxy or phenyl; atom of oxygen or atom of sulphur; B represents methyne group (CH), optionally substituted with C1-C10alkyl, C2-C10alkenyl or phenyl, which can be substituted with halogen, cyano, nitro, C1-C10alkoxy or phenyl, or halogen; or atom ofnitrogen; A represents methyne group of (CH), optionally substituted withy C1-C10alkyl, C2-C10alkenyl or phenyl, which can be substituted with halogen, cyano, nitro, C1-C10alkoxy or phenyl; or atom of nitrogen; or X and B and B and A can be connected by alkylene or alkyldiene group, forming polycondensated completely or partially non saturated five- or six-member carbocycle or heterocycle, which can be optionally substituted with C1-C10alkyl, C2-C10alkenyl, C1-C10alkoxy, phenyl, halogen, cyano or nitro. A compound of the formula (II): (II) in which X, B and A are such as defined hereinbefore, and they are treated with anhydride of trifluoractetic acid in the presence of base.
