The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy. A mixer for preparation of molding sand contains a fixed cup, a block of three plows located inside the cup, which rotates relative to the central axis of cup, and eccentrically located one or several vortex heads, on each of which blades are fixed, the direction of rotation of which is opposite to the direction of rotation of the block of plows; moreover, the blades of vortex heads are located on the spiral with a shift of each next blade, which is located below relative to the preceding one, for the angle of 45-60 DEGREE . The invention ensures increase of efficiency of the processes of mass exchange and mixing the components of moulding mixture, shortening of the duration of working process, , raising the level of uniformity of obtained molding sand and reduction of loads on the drives of the unit of plows and vortex heads.
