A voice message control apparatus and an output method thereof are provided to assign an arbitrary sound to a key of a function which is easy to be confused by a user in a video output apparatus and output the sound in a mode where the key is used, thereby enabling the user to easily use the key corresponding to the assigned sound. A method for outputting a voice message in a video display apparatus comprises the following steps of: converting a screen display mode(S210,S220); displaying an OSD(On Screen Display) image for at least one key explanation used in the converted mode(S212,S222); and outputting an arbitrary sound assigned to a predetermined key(S214,S224). The screen display mode is converted into an application function display mode including a program guide display function or a message box display mode. |
