<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce size of print data to be transmitted from a print controller to a printer under the consideration of the data characteristics of a document to be printed. <P>SOLUTION: This print system equipped with a print controller for generating print data on the basis of data to be printed and a printer which executes printing according to the print data is provided with a developing means for developing the data to be printed into image data; a deciding means for deciding the attributes of the data to be printed; and a print data generating means for generating print data by applying screen processing to the image data, and compressing the image data by using a first compression algorithm when the decided attributes are predetermined attributes, and for generating print data by compressing the image data by using a second compression algorithm when the decided attributes are any other than the predetermined attributes.
