PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-side document scanning system that improves productivity or throughput in an electronic document scanner, and utilizes one luster image scanner, one lighting source, and only one passage of a document path. SOLUTION: An automatic document processing system comprises a first imaging region; a light source 250 provided near the first imaging region; a luster imaging scanning system provided near the first imaging region; a semicircular document path 300 that is provided near the first imaging region and has an inlet and an outlet; a second imaging region provided near the outlet of the semicircular document path 300; and a bidirectional optical fiber element 400 provided between the first and second imaging regions. The bidirectional optical fiber element 400 sends light from the light source 250 to the second imaging region, and sends reflection light from the second imaging region to the first one.
