The method involves shifting an electronic device into a switched operating state with an application of main voltage. The device is automatically shifted from the operating state to a stand-by state after the expiration of a preset standby time, when no operation command is released by an input interface of the device within the standby time. A request is transmitted in the form of visual/acoustic signal for releasing the command by an output interface of the device, when no command is released within an initial phase of the standby time. An independent claim is also included for an electronic device comprising a control module.
