<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of recording and playing back information to/from optical recording media of two or more specifications by switching among two or more objective lenses without increasing the scale of the device nor lowering switching speed due to a mechanical structure. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes an optical device 14 which can control switching between a transmission mode and a reflecting mode without changing over the polarization direction of a light beam emitted from a light source, a 1st objective lens 17a is arranged on the optical path of the light beam reflected by the optical device 14, and a 2nd objective lens 17b is arranged on the optical path of the light beam passed through the optical device 14. The 1st objective lens 17a is the one optimized for recording and play-back of, for example, an HD-DVD, and the 2nd objective lens 17b is the one optimized for recording and play-back of a Blu-ray disk. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
