<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition engine capable of performing a compressed self-ignition even in an operating area on a low load side. <P>SOLUTION: The compressed self-ignition is performed by increasing the cylinder temperature of the spark ignition engine in the partial load operation area of the engine. The engine comprises an operating state determination means 110 detecting the operating state of the engine, exhaust gas leaving means 42, 43, 62 performing an internal EGR by leaving exhaust gases in a cylinder, intake heating means 44, 46, 47 heating intake air by the heat exchange thereof with exhaust gases, and a combustion control means 120 performing the engine compressed self-ignition by controlling the exhaust gas leaving means 42, 43, 62 and intake heating means 44, 46, 47. The combustion control means 120 operates the exhaust leaving means 42, 43, 62 in the low load side operating area among the partial load operating area in which the compressed self-ignition is performed, and operating the intake heating means 44, 46, 47 in the entire part of the partial load operating area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
