PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a transmission wherein cost is reduced and erroneous determination that the side G (lateral acceleration) is working is eliminated. SOLUTION: In the controller 60 for the transmission TM for executing transmission control based on the side G calculated based on wheel information, a wheel information determination means is provided to determine whether the wheel information of drive wheels DRW and driven wheels DNW is normal or not. The wheel information determination means consists of a first determination means S1 for determining whether difference between an average value of rotation speed of right and left drive wheel Wa, Wb and output speed of the transmission TM is in a predetermined range or not and a second judgment means S2 for determining whether difference between speed difference of right and left drive wheel Wa, Wb and speed difference of the driven wheels Wc, Wd is in a predetermined range or not and determines that the wheel information is normal when determination results of both the first and the second determination means S1 and S2 are in the predetermined ranges. When the wheel information is determined to be normal by the wheel information determination means, it is allowed to execute transmission control based on the side G working on a vehicle.
