PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system, capable of accurate deduction of the current position of a vehicle by improving the detection accuracy of the 0-point voltage, and is capable of readily causing deduction, without having to add special mechanisms. SOLUTION: The navigation system includes a vehicle backward movement detecting means for detecting back gear change, when the vehicle is backing, a driving detecting means for detecting the driving state of the vehicle from the vehicle speed pulse, an azimuth detecting means for detecting the azimuth of the vehicle, and an own vehicle position deducing means for deducing the present position of the vehicle. When it is detected that back gear has not been actuated by the vehicle backward movement detecting means and that vehicle pulses fixed interval are not generated by the azimuth detection means, the outputs of the azimuth detection means are stored as reference values.
