PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system wherein a camera 1 transmits its imaged image to a control unit 2 via a cable 4, the control unit supplies power to the camera via the cable, and the camera controls supply of the power. SOLUTION: The camera includes: a means for receiving the power supplied from the control unit via the cable; an internal or external means for being charged with the received power; a means operable by using the charged power; a means for imaging an image; a means for transmitting the imaged image to the control unit via the cable; and a means for multiplexing a control signal used to control the supply of power from the control unit with the image and transmitting the multiplexed image and signal to the control unit via the cable, and the control unit includes: a means for receiving the image and the control signal transmitted from the camera through the cable; and a means for supplying the power to the camera via the cable in a mode on the basis of the received control signal.
