PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a blanket, having a surface with a precise irregular pattern, without the need for many steps; to continuously form a good micropattern by using the blanket with the irregular pattern; and to reduce costs and time, associated with the formation of the pattern. SOLUTION: A pattern forming method comprises a transfer step of bringing a spreading roller into contact with the blanket with a desired pattern, which is mounted on a blanket roller, and of transferring a coating liquid of the blanket roller. In the blanket for use in the pattern forming method, the pattern of a resin or rubber-based material layer on the surface of the blanket is formed by applying a resin or the rubber-based material onto a transfer elimination plate for reverse printing, having a desired negative pattern.
