PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein in the use of a Web service on the Internet, if the processing of the Web service takes time, the service side once disconnects and, upon completing the processing, reconnects the request side, while general communication in companies and others, which is via proxy servers, refuses connections from Web servers to in-house terminals. SOLUTION: In the connection of an information processing apparatus on an internal network and an information processing apparatus on an external network via a proxy server, when the external information processing apparatus issues a connection suspension request, connection identification information included in the connection suspension request is saved in a connection management table, and the external information processing apparatus is disconnected. When the external information processing apparatus issues a connection restart request, if information included in the connection restart request matches the information saved in the connection management table, the related internal information processing apparatus is reconnected.
