PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing apparatus with high flexibility, with which a general language practice program can be easily used as a text and repeating practice can be performed at any point. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises; a memory means for storing recorded practice voice information as well as a model voice information; a voice reproducing means; and a voice input means. When recording operation is performed, reproducing of the model voice information is stopped and a stop position of the model voice information is stored, and practice voice information input from the voice input means is stored until specific reproducing operation is performed. When the specific reproducing operation is performed, storing the practice voice information is stopped, and after the stored practice voice information is reproduced, reproducing of the practice voice information is stopped and reproducing of the model voice information is started from a position which goes back from the stop position of the model voice information, by a prescribed portion.
