PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of the blurring and flicker of a dynamic image in a wide temperature range. SOLUTION: With the device employing a line inversion driving system, a polarization inversion period switching signal is held at an L level and the polarity of the liquid crystal application voltage with respect to each pixel is inverted for every one field in a period when the detection temperature is higher than -15°C (before the time ta). When the detection temperature falls below -15°C at the time ta, the polarization inversion period switching signal is changed from the L level to an H level, and after the certain time tb, i.e. the start time of the next field, the polarity of the liquid crystal application voltage with respect to each pixel is inverted for every two fields.
