PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic-key opening/closing system which eliminates the risk that an electronic key may be subjected to fraudulent unlocking because information required for the unlocking is known to others. SOLUTION: This electronic-key opening/closing system comprises a box 1 which is equipped with the electronic key 4 and a key control part 5, and a portable terminal 2 with a storage part 8 for communication, which can be communicated with the box 1 only in the state of being close to it. A secret key and a public key corresponding to the secret key are stored in the portable terminal 2; in a locking operation, the public key is written in the storage part 8; and in an unlocking operation, a letter string for authentication, which is received from the control part 5, is encrypted by using the secret key and written into the storage part 8. The control part 5 stores the public key read from the storage part 8 in the unlocked state of the electronic key. When the portable terminal 2 is put into a close state under a locked state, the letter string for authentication is generated and written into the storage part 8, and a cipher, which is read from the storage part 8 of the portable terminal 2, is decrypted by the public key which is stored in locking.
