<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll manufacturing method capable of enhancing adhesiveness of a roll body to a spray deposit film, and expanding a roll manufactured by a thermal spraying method, and a roll manufactured by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A surface layer part 11 of a roll body 10 is hardened. A hard ceramic containing a binder is thermal-sprayed on its surface at the thermal spraying speed of >800 m/sec. and ≤1,200 m/sec. to deposit a spray deposit film 12 having the porosity of ≤1.5 vol.%.
