<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide automatic image selection techniques regarding automatic image selection in various kinds of image processing such as print processing. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 10 judges whether or not total capacity of read images exceeds limited capacity of a nonvolatile storage medium 15. If exceeding the limited capacity, processing is shifted to S4 but when not exceeding the limited capacity, processing is shifted to S7. In S4, the priority order of images is determined based on characteristics of the images, In accordance with the determined priority order, a group of images (a group of selected images) settled within the limited capacity is determined (S5).
