PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate whole management by sharing file management and object management. SOLUTION: A video file is constituted of extents. A cell can be defined in a recording or reproducing video management data, and by connecting a plurality of cells, a plurality of program chains PGC which set up a reproducing order can be defined. Duplicate designation of a same place in a VOB can be made between cells which belong to different PGCs, and a search pointer which indicates cell information about the above cell and its position exists. PGC information about a PGC includes PGC general information PGCGI, and the PGCGI includes the number information on the above search pointer. Information on a file system includes a file entry FE, and the FE includes an allocation descriptor AD.
