PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device using an OCB (Optically Compensated Birefringence) mode liquid crystal without causing any luminance difference on a panel. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a liquid crystal display panel 10 provided with signal lines and scanning lines arranged in a matrix shape and utilizing the OCB mode liquid crystal; a gate driver 12 for supplying gate signals to the scanning line; a line memory 32 storing data for display and data for black insertion; a source driver 11 provided with a shift register 22 to which the data in the line memory 32 are input and a D/A conversion part 21 for D/A converting the data in the shift register 22 and supplying a voltage to the signal line; and a polarity signal supply part 33 for supplying polarity signals for which polarity is inverted when the D/A conversion part 22 finishes supplying the voltage of the valid display data of a final row to the signal line. Then, the D/A conversion part 22 supplies the voltage of the polarity of the polarity signals to the signal line, and supplies the voltage of the data for black insertion in a period from the inversion of the polarity signals to the supply of the voltage of the valid display data of the next frame for each row.
