A multifilament yarn, e.g. having 200 to 300 filaments, is produced, e.g. by melt spinning from a two component spinneret, so that the inner filaments of polyester or aramide are surrounded by a layer of nylon filaments. All the filaments have the same diameter. The polyester filaments are preferably polyethylene terphthalate or polyethylene naphthalate. An independent claim is included for the yarn made in this construction.
