<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device for inputting Japanese, which is more easily usable even by a person who is familiar with the input method of a portable telephone, and which is suitably applied to a tape printer. <P>SOLUTION: When any undecided character is input by a Japanese syllabary turning key, Japanese syllabary/Chinese character conversion starts for any undecided character string constituted of undecided characters input until that time without depressing a Japanese syllabary/Chinese character conversion key, and some conversion candidates are displayed, and one of those conversion candidates is put in a selected status. In this status, when a digit key arranged at a place different from the place of the Japanese syllabary turning key, and associated with the digit of any of keys 0 to 9 is depressed, a Chinese character is decided in the conversion candidate which is being selected at present, and a digit associated with the depressed key is input. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
