PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress collision of a head element part with a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: In manufacturing of a hard disk drive (HDD), a recession quantity R of the head element part 122 with respect to the slider 123 is measured previously for each head slider 12. According to the measured recession quantity, a value of write current to a write element 31 or the current of a heater 124 for a TFC (Thermal Fry height Control) is set. By setting the values according to the recession quantity of head element part 122, even when the recession quantity of head element part 122 is varied due to variance in manufacturing, the collision of each head element part 122 with the magnetic disk is avoided and clearance between each head element part 122 and the magnetic disk can be reduced.
