PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step stacking device suitable to stack plastic containers, e.g., adaptable to stack stacked objects which have various shapes and sizes, and reliably and safely stacking the stacked objects while actualizing a mass-productive stacking device. SOLUTION: The stacked object 4 placed on a fixed position is moved upward to a predetermined position and held. The following stacked object 4 is moved to the lower side of the stacked object 4 and laid there. The certain number of stacked objects 4 are stacked in ascending order and held. On both sides of the stacked objects 4, endless holding members 43, 44 are arranged which can circulate in the vertical direction. The holding members 43, 44 facing each other can circulate in mutually opposite directions. The stacked objects 4 can be held between the holding members 43, 44 facing each other.
