<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a filter assembled in an internal combustion engine from being damaged by suppressing the inflow of CO and HC with high concentration into the filter. <P>SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine, the filter 1 capturing particles in exhaust gases is disposed in an exhaust gas flow passage 21 from the engine, and an EGR valve 16 or a supercharger is disposed on the engine side. The engine comprises a gas detection means 18 disposed on the upstream side of the filter 1 and detecting specific gas components in the exhaust gases fed to the filter 1 and a controller 19 controlling the lift amount of the EGR valve 16 or the supercharging pressure of the supercharger according to the increase and decrease of the specific gas components detected by the gas detection means 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
